Ibanez

If an Ibanez electric guitar can survive the heavy metal groups of the 80's, it should survive most things!

Ibanez as a guitar designer has its roots in Spain of the 1930,’s. It is only in the 1970’s that the company came to prominence with its legal wrangling over design copyright. The similarity of Ibanez electric guitar designs to those of the industry giants Fenders, Gibson and others was noted.

Big industry players, threatened by electric guitars designs that looked similar to theirs but being sold at cheaper prices brought legal unpleasantries.

Ibanez battled through this difficult period and became more innovative.Designing electric guitars for high profile bands such as Iron Maiden, Kiss and others brought the company in to a more positive limelight.

In the mid 80’s the company launched the RG a guitar that became popular with heavy metal groups. The RG with its jagged body shape proved a robust instrument that could survive a heavy night on stage. Remember that was an era when live on stage antics appeared to be as important as the music.

Through the 80’s, 90’s and right up to today, the company has kept a sharp eye on good design and a finely tuned ear on good sound and all at competitive prices. To days range of electric guitars includes solid and semi hollow electric guitars. The RG still holds its place in the range 20 years on from its first version back in the early 80’s.

For the beginner Ibanez have what they call the IJS40 Jumpstart Kit. This kit is a full package of everything a beginner needs including guitar, amplifier, instruction book DVD and more. I have seen this advertised as low as $260 dollars from the online supplier linked below.

Useful Tip
When visiting the sites above I find the best way to view the instruments you wish to see is to go into the electric guitar section and key the name of the brand (e.g fender or gibson) you wish to view in to the search box. In this way you will get to see all the relevant models for each maker together in one or two screens.
